To complete the two projects under the Railway Coexistence Program, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) and Ferromex will need to invest 1,150 million pesos, which will enable the construction of two underpasses and an overpass.
Eleno Villalba, director of Urban Development, stated that following the meeting with executives from those two departments, they were able to provide information on the funds allocated in the 2015 budget.
The new designs will be presented next Thursday at the IMIP facilities. Participants will include the planning institute itself, as well as the departments of Civil Protection, Parks and Gardens, Public Works, and the department she heads.
He stated that one of the underpasses he plans to build is the one located on David Herrera Jordán Avenue, as there are plans to construct a plaza in that area to promote medical tourism throughout the entire sector.
To do this, the Land Registry offices will need to be relocated to another building, as the plan is to use the area to build a parking garage and create spaces for medical offices.
The official stated that the Vicente Guerrero project is likely to begin before the Ignacio Mejía project; there, a mixed-use passageway will be built that will include a bridge as well as underground structures extending from Juan Gabriel Avenue to Francisco Villa Avenue.
The upper bridge would run from Miguel Ahumada Street and end one block before Constitución Street; the purpose of this project is to bypass the railroad tracks so that trains can operate for longer hours.
«The two projects require an investment of 1.15 billion pesos, and we expect work to begin on the Vicente Guerrero project, in accordance with the SCT’s investment framework for this year,» he said.
