But what factors do we need to consider in order to achieve the desired outcome?<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Retos_de_la_movilidad_urbana_en_pro_del_medio_ambiente\"><\/span>Challenges of Urban Mobility in Support of the Environment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The arrival of bicycles and the construction of sustainable buildings show that residents are ready for change. The<strong> the emergence of the electric car <\/strong>and the efforts of some cities to develop <strong>anti-pollution plans<\/strong> as they attest. These solutions are vital, given that the transportation sector is the largest consumer of energy and also the largest emitter of CO2.<\/p>\n<p>But, as you know, there's still a long way to go. Promoting the <strong>environmental commitment<\/strong> When it comes to sustainable mobility, improvements are needed in the following areas:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. The Need for Measurement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What are the parameters for calculating the mobility of goods and people? Currently, the following have yet to be defined:<strong> mobility indicators<\/strong>. And they are necessary to properly manage the fight against environmental issues.<\/p>\n<p>Nor do we have precise information about what is known as the \u2018last mile\u2019 for individuals. Environmental Commitment as a Business Strategy<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Reasonable mobility must be part of the strategy of future organizations, not only in terms of logistics, but also as a plan for <strong>Corporate Social Responsibility<\/strong>. In this regard, companies should analyze <strong>the mobility footprint<\/strong> of its employees through HR policies. Furthermore, if the reduction in CO2 emissions were to result in a tax benefit, the success of this challenge would be more feasible.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_La_descarbonizacion_y_la_calidad_del_aire\"><\/span><strong>3. Decarbonization and Air Quality<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Traffic, the high proportion of <strong>diesel cars<\/strong> and the aging vehicle fleet contribute to air pollution. For this reason, one challenge already underway is the adoption of electric cars. Furthermore, it would be desirable <strong>increase travel by train or boat<\/strong>, much more efficient and cleaner.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_La_integracion_de_componentes_y_dispositivos\"><\/span><strong>4. The Integration of Components and Devices<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The development of <strong>applications<\/strong> that address mobility needs must continue. Technology is the foundation of change. Therefore, the goal must be to integrate those <em>apps <\/em>with all kinds of devices (<strong>sensors, cameras, cellular signals<\/strong>\u2026) throughout the country. Not only drivers and cyclists, but also pedestrians must be part of that value chain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Harmonization of Regulations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re probably already familiar with the measures taken by Madrid and Barcelona regarding urban mobility. As you may have noticed, there are significant differences between the two plans. The goal should be to ensure that there is <strong>joint regulation<\/strong> that can be applied to the diverse needs of Spain.<\/p>\n<p>As you've seen, the challenges of sustainable mobility go beyond environmental benefits. And technology is the best ally for driving change.
