Rolling Bridge se enrolla sobre s\u00ed mismo, adquiriendo forma de oct\u00f3gono, para no interrumpir el paso de los barcos que circulan por el Canal de Paddington.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.structuralia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/rolling1-8.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" alt=\"rolling1\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"  \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Este puente est\u00e1 formado por ocho segmentos articulados id\u00e9nticos que tienen forma de tri\u00e1ngulo. El Rolling Bridge se abre y se cierra gracias a un mecanismo de <strong>cilindros hidr\u00e1ulicos.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El puente abierto forma una celos\u00eda, cuando \u00e9ste se cierra la parte superior de esta celos\u00eda comienza a doblarse, levant\u00e1ndose por un extremo y comenzando a plegarse sobre s\u00ed mismo. Cuando se encuentre totalmente recogido el Rolling Bridge adquiere forma de <strong>oct\u00f3gono<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.structuralia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/rolling3-5.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" alt=\"rolling3\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"  \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Rolling Bridge cuando se encuentra abierto tiene una<strong> longitud de unos 12 metros<\/strong>. Los materiales m\u00e1s utilizados para poder llevarlo a cabo el Rolling Bridge fueron el acero y la madera.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La mayor parte del tiempo esta pasarela peatonal se encuentra desenrollada, permitiendo el paso de los viandantes. Sin embargo, los viernes, al mediod\u00eda, el puente se enrolla, siendo visitado por un gran n\u00famero de turistas. El tiempo del proceso es inferior a 10 minutos. Estos d\u00edas es cuando se realizan las<strong> labores de mantenimiento.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.structuralia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/rolling-9.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" alt=\"rolling\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"  \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adem\u00e1s de los viernes a mediod\u00eda, el Rolling Bridge se cierra cuando es necesario para no interrumpir la navegaci\u00f3n de esta canal. Esta maniobra se lleva a cabo activando los pistones hidr\u00e1ulicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el dise\u00f1o innovador del puente intervino Thomas Heatherwick, dise\u00f1ador y arquitecto brit\u00e1nico del estudio Heatherwick. \u00c9ste fue instalado en la cuenca de Paddington, en Londres, en el a\u00f1o 2004 y un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s, recibi\u00f3 el premio Structural Steel Design Award.
