Fue inaugurada en 2015 y desde ese momento se consolid\u00f3 como la <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.structuralia.com\/en\/5-tipos-de-centrales-solares\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/blog.structuralia.com\/5-tipos-de-centrales-solares\">central solar<\/a> m\u00e1s grande de Centroam\u00e9rica y el Caribe. Su puesta en marcha represent\u00f3 un paso importante en la diversificaci\u00f3n de la matriz energ\u00e9tica de Guatemala, contribuyendo a reducir la dependencia de combustibles f\u00f3siles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFEn_que_consiste_una_planta_fotovoltaica\"><\/span>\u00bfEn qu\u00e9 consiste una planta fotovoltaica? <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One <strong>planta fotovoltaica<\/strong> es una instalaci\u00f3n dise\u00f1ada para convertir la radiaci\u00f3n solar en electricidad mediante el <strong>efecto fotovoltaico<\/strong>. Este proceso se basa en materiales semiconductores, principalmente el silicio, que generan corriente el\u00e9ctrica al ser impactados por fotones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El proceso se desarrolla en varias etapas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Captaci\u00f3n de luz solar<\/strong>: los paneles transforman la radiaci\u00f3n en corriente continua.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conversi\u00f3n de energ\u00eda<\/strong>: inversores convierten esta corriente alterna, adecuada para el consumo y la distribuci\u00f3n en la red.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Optimizaci\u00f3n con seguidores solares<\/strong>: en Horus Energy se utilizan trackers de un solo eje, que orientan los paneles siguiendo el movimiento del sol de este a oeste, aumentando el rendimiento frente a sistemas est\u00e1ticos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transmisi\u00f3n a la red<\/strong>: la energ\u00eda se eleva  de voltaje en la subestaci\u00f3n de la planta y se inyecta en la red el\u00e9ctrica nacional. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Impacto_ambiental_de_una_planta_fotovoltaica_como_Horus_Energy\"><\/span>Impacto ambiental de una planta fotovoltaica como Horus Energy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Beneficios_principales\"><\/span>Beneficios principales<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La ventaja m\u00e1s evidente es la <strong>reducci\u00f3n de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero<\/strong>. Con m\u00e1s de 115 GWh generados al a\u00f1o, Horus evita el uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles y, con ello, la emisi\u00f3n de miles de toneladas de CO\u2082. Este aporte contribuye directamente a los compromisos internacionales de mitigaci\u00f3n del cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otro beneficio es la <strong>diversificaci\u00f3n de la matriz energ\u00e9tica guatemalteca<\/strong>, que hist\u00f3ricamente ha dependido de recursos hidroel\u00e9ctricos y f\u00f3siles. Incorporar la energ\u00eda solar fortalece la seguridad energ\u00e9tica del pa\u00eds y reduce la exposici\u00f3n a la volatilidad de precios internacionales del petr\u00f3leo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>fase de construcci\u00f3n<\/strong> tambi\u00e9n dej\u00f3 un impacto positivo: m\u00e1s de 500 empleos directos y la dinamizaci\u00f3n de la econom\u00eda local. En la etapa operativa, la planta no produce ruido significativo, no libera contaminantes al aire ni al agua, y aprovecha un recurso renovable abundante en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Retos_ambientales\"><\/span>Retos ambientales<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No obstante, existen desaf\u00edos. El primero es el <strong>uso extensivo del suelo<\/strong>. La planta ocupa 175 hect\u00e1reas, un espacio que podr\u00eda haber tenido otros usos. En este caso, se eligieron terrenos previamente dedicados a la ganader\u00eda, lo que redujo la afectaci\u00f3n a ecosistemas naturales, pero esta decisi\u00f3n no elimina por completo la discusi\u00f3n sobre el impacto territorial de proyectos de gran escala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otro reto es el <strong>manejo de residuos tecnol\u00f3gicos<\/strong>. Los m\u00f3dulos fotovoltaicos contienen vidrio, aluminio y en algunos casos metales que requieren procesos adecuados de reciclaje al final de su vida \u00fatil. Este aspecto obliga a planificar desde el inicio un esquema de econom\u00eda circular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por \u00faltimo, se deben considerar los <strong>efectos en el paisaje y microclima local<\/strong>. Los campos de paneles modifican la reflectancia del terreno y, aunque sus efectos son menores que los de las centrales t\u00e9rmicas, forman parte de los impactos que deben gestionarse con estudios ambientales y planes de compensaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Conclusion\"><\/span>Conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Horus Energy no es solo un proyecto de ingenier\u00eda, es una apuesta estrat\u00e9gica por la sostenibilidad energ\u00e9tica en Guatemala y en toda Centroam\u00e9rica. Con su capacidad instalada de m\u00e1s de 90 MW, el uso de tecnolog\u00edas de seguimiento solar y una producci\u00f3n superior a los 115 GWh al a\u00f1o, la planta demuestra que la regi\u00f3n puede liderar iniciativas de gran escala en energ\u00eda renovable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El camino hacia una matriz energ\u00e9tica m\u00e1s limpia implica atender retos como la gesti\u00f3n del suelo y de los residuos tecnol\u00f3gicos, pero el balance general de Horus Energy confirma que los beneficios superan ampliamente los impactos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este complejo fotovoltaico es hoy un referente para futuros proyectos renovables en Am\u00e9rica Latina, y un recordatorio de que la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica no es un horizonte lejano, sino una realidad que ya est\u00e1 en marcha.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publicado originalmente el 17 de febrero de 2015, actualizado el 02 de Octubre de 2025.
