For this reason, defining what is and what is not a \u201csmart city\u201d will depend on who is making the assessment. What any definition of this Anglicism must necessarily include, however, is the notion of sustainability, taken to its fullest extent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, it could be stated that <em>Smart Cities are urban networks that promote the well-being of their citizens while showing the utmost respect for the environment around them, achieving a balance known as sustainability<\/em>.<span id=\"hs-cta-wrapper-dce2cbf3-b8ac-45fb-87c9-aa9075a43952\" class=\"hs-cta-wrapper\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the most recent studies, <strong>It is projected that by 2050, 70% of the world's population will live in cities<\/strong>. This data highlights the progressive urban sprawl, the consequences of which are already evident: of particular concern are energy supply, excessive harmful emissions into the atmosphere, and traffic management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is how this wonderful philosophy came about, one that aims to transform urban centers and address these social concerns. But,<strong> What steps does a city need to take to be considered a Smart City?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Just as with its definition, there are no specific requirements that grant the \u201ctitle\u201d of Smart City to a particular area. However, it makes no sense to refer to it without having implemented at least one of the following characteristics that every sustainable urban center must meet:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commitment to and Respect for the Environment.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Active collaboration between the government and citizens (social cohesion).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Technological integration of its transportation infrastructure and services.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Data openness and transparency.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Efficient management of the economy and material resources.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Coherent urban planning.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Universal accessibility and sustainable urban mobility.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Technological and architectural innovations that improve quality of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El concepto de Smart City es amplio, poco concreto.
