The new Secretary of State for Infrastructure at the Ministry of Public Works, Julio Gómez-Pomar, has announced to Mayor Daniel Ortiz that the project to expand the Extremadura Expressway to six lanes is scheduled to go out to bid this spring.
Daniel Ortiz expressed his satisfaction that the Spanish government continues to fulfill the commitments it has made to improve the quality of life for the residents of Mostoles, thanks to the work carried out over more than two years to find a permanent solution to the constant traffic jams on the Autovía de Extremadura.
«This is extraordinary news for more than half a million residents of the southwestern region—including Alcorcón and Móstoles—and, more broadly, for all of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, and Extremadura who use this highway daily, which is always gridlocked as it passes through Parque Coimbra,» he said.
