Located on the south bank of the River Thames, between two of London's most iconic bridges—London Bridge and Tower Bridge—is one of the city's largest infrastructure projects.
This project involves the renovation of the London Bridge train station, one of the oldest in the world, since it opened in 1836 with the line connecting central London to the Greenwich neighborhood, which carries 56 million passengers each year.
The construction work will be completed by next year and includes the expansion of 15 new platforms, which amounts to a 65% increase in station capacity, being able to manage 18 trains per hour. It should be noted that the project includes the construction of an underground concourse that will provide access to all platforms.
It will also include the renovation of several arched areas to convert them into commercial spaces.
Its funding is included in the Thameslink project, which will have a budget of 7 billion pounds provided by the government.
