Companies may submit their bids through February 12 for these contracts to upgrade the A-131 highway and reinforce the pavement on the A-220.
These road improvements will be carried out under two contracts. The first contract covers the upgrading of the Sariñena-San Lorenzo del Flumen section from p.k. 57+626 to p.k. 62+054, with a base bid amount of over 3.6 million euros (excluding VAT); the second covers the section from p.k. 62+054 to p.k. 66+991. Section: San Lorenzo del Flumen–Venta de Ballerías, with a base bid amount of more than 3 million euros. In both cases, companies have until February 12 to submit their bids.
Miguel Ángel Arminio, Director General of Highways for the Government of Aragon, explained that through these improvements, «we are widening and upgrading the existing road in some areas and altering the alignment in others. In this way, we are widening roads that are currently between 5 and 6 meters wide to roads ranging from 7 to 10 meters wide. In the case of the A-131, we will widen the roadway to 7 meters and the overall right-of-way to 10 meters. These improvements are essentially equivalent to building a new road on top of the existing one. It is a comprehensive project through which we are improving the road surface and signage, thereby increasing road safety.».
In addition, the Official Gazette of Aragon (BOA) today published the call for bids for the contract to reinforce the pavement on the A-220 highway on the La Almunia de Doña Godina–Cariñena section from km 2+280 to 19+700, with a base bid amount of 4.2 million euros (excluding VAT); the deadline for submitting bids is also February 12.
This project «is important for correcting the damage caused by the heavy traffic on this road. So, on this section, we’re going to rehabilitate the pavement by reusing part of the existing pavement and adding a reinforcement layer. In this way, this project will improve safety conditions.».
