About 75 million dollars will be allocated to the construction of the 99-kilometer Villa Granado-Puente Taperas-La Palizada highway to facilitate travel for residents of the departments of Cochabamba, Chuquisaca, and Santa Cruz.
Bolivia's Minister of Development Planning, René Orellana, announced today that Bolivia secured a $159 million loan from the development bank Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF) for the construction of three highways.
The CAF representative in Bolivia, Ecuadorian Emilio Uquillas, signed the three financing contracts totaling $159 million alongside Minister Orellana, DPA reported.
«The new roads will provide several towns with access to markets, productive activities, and tourism, and the loans from CAF will help create more jobs,» said Orellana.
About 75 million dollars will be allocated to the construction of the 99-kilometer Villa Granado-Puente Taperas-La Palizada highway to facilitate travel for residents of the departments of Cochabamba, Chuquisaca, and Santa Cruz.
The second loan, in the amount of $62.8 million, will be used to rehabilitate the 55.6-kilometer Yucumo-San Borja highway in the departments of La Paz and Beni.
The third loan, in the amount of $21.2 million, will fund the paving of the 35.5-kilometer Caracollo-Colquiri highway in the departments of Oruro and La Paz.
It was also noted that the three projects will receive $124 million in counterpart funding, contributed by six Bolivian provincial governments and the European Investment Bank.
