The building known as Caleido has established itself as the Madrid's fifth tower, a skyscraper that brings an innovative concept to the capital's financial district. With 181 meters tall and 35 stories, its construction required an investment of more than 434 million euros.
Unlike its neighboring towers, which are primarily office buildings, Caleido stands out for its focus on education, healthcare, and retail. The tower houses the IE University campus, a top-tier hospital managed by the Quirónsalud Group, as well as retail spaces, green spaces, and recreational areas that breathe new life into the neighborhood.
Architectural Design of the Caleido Tower
Caleido was designed by the studios Serrano-Suñer Architecture and Fenwick Iribarren, which designed a structure in the shape of an inverted T. The main tower accounts for 70% of the total floor area, while an adjacent four-story building (approximately 11,000 m²) houses the medical clinic.
The complex also includes more than 2,000 parking spaces, green spaces, and a retail area that enhances the area’s services and improves urban connectivity.
Economic and Social Impact
The construction of Caleido involved the creation of more than 1,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and near 4,000 jobs during its operational life. In addition, the project has had an estimated impact of more than 230 million euros of Madrid's GDP, contributing to the city's economic and social development.
Its location, next to the Cuatro Torres Business District and its proximity to one of Spain's most important hospitals reinforces the strategic importance of this urban location.
The addition of Caleido to Madrid’s skyline has not only transformed the city’s image but has also placed it among the ranks of cities with world-class financial districts. Madrid now shares the spotlight with other metropolises that have embraced vertical architecture, from business towers to communication towers that are among the tallest in the world.
