This will make it possible to use energy from renewable sources generated in Scotland, improving the electricity supply in the United Kingdom and promoting the use of energy from clean sources. Thanks to this transmission of electricity, more than 4 million homes will be powered each year.

This electrical cable will have a an undersea section of about 385 kilometers (770 kilometers, since it is a bidirectional cable) y 33 underground cable on the Wirral. For most of its route, the cable will be buried 1.5 meters below the seabed.

The bidirectional project It offers the advantage of being able to adjust the flow of current based on current needs and electricity demand at any given time.

There are two transformers, the one in Hunsterton, Scotland, and the one in Wirral, Wales, which are necessary to convert direct current to alternating current.

The investment required to carry out this installation will be approximately 1,000 million pounds, which is equivalent to about 1.2 billion euros, approximately. Each meter of cable has a mass of about 50 kilograms, approximately.

This project, which is being developed by Iberdrola and National Grid, is part of the United Kingdom's strategic energy plan.
