The Penonomé Wind Farm is located in the province of Coclé, in Panama. It is the country's first wind farm and also the largest in all of Central America, with a capacity of 270 megawatts.
Thanks to this wind farm, we will be able to meet between 6 and 7% of the country's total consumption, generating enough clean energy to provide for more than 100,000 families throughout the year. About 500 people worked on the construction of this park.
Penonomé Park has a total of 106 towers, each 90 meters tall, installed over an area of approximately 19,000 hectares. Each of the generators has three blades, each 52.5 meters long.
Construction of this park began in 2012 and has required a $564 million investment in order for it to become a reality. The construction of the park will result in a less dependence on fossil fuels, reducing emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide, thereby minimizing environmental pollution.
