The coast of Gran Canaria, in Spain, will be home to the country's first offshore wind farm. The wind farm, with a capacity of 10 MW, will be located between the municipalities of Santa Lucía and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, approximately 2.1 kilometers off the coast.

This is a experimental facility which will have only two wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5 MW, spaced about 600 meters apart. Each of these wind turbines will feature a different blade system, in order to compare their efficiency and stability.

It will include a submarine power line with a voltage of 20,000 volts and a length of 3.7 kilometers. In addition to this undersea line, it will include another subway line with the same tension and 1 kilometer in length.
The towers will have an interior diameter of about 5.7 meters and will rest on the seabed at depths greater than 40 meters, anchored to the seabed by six steel cables.
The budget for this marine facility will be approximately 16.41 million euros, approximately. This project could be up and running within two and a half years.
