In Puebla, the soluble cement «Mezcla Brava» was developed, which will increase productivity by up to 600 percent; this will reduce construction costs and time by up to 400 percent.
This product was developed by the lime manufacturer Grupo Calidra in collaboration with the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM), Puebla campus.
This powdered mixture was developed using cement, sand with controlled particle size, and high-quality additives; simply add water to it to create a homogeneous paste capable of bonding masonry pieces and producing micro-concrete.
It is worth noting that this material was used to construct the «Torre Cetri,» a 12-story building located on Recta a Cholula, in just four weeks—a 33 percent reduction in man-hours.
In this regard, Jorge Anaya Gómez, a former ITESM student and current development manager at «Mezcla Brava,» noted that this product will «revolutionize the country’s construction industry by standardizing the construction process.».
He emphasized that this will also reduce the time needed to prepare the cement; instead of the approximately 40 minutes previously required, it will take only 10 minutes to mix it.
He also said that this blend will be sold in Puebla, Veracruz, and the State of Mexico.
For his part, Julián Torres Kauffman noted that the development of this cement will reduce construction time by 400 percent, thereby shortening the workday from 15 to four hours.
A total of 250 million pesos was invested in the construction of the plant located in Acajete, where 25,000 metric tons of this mixture are produced; this created 220 jobs.
He emphasized that the creation of this cement plant will have a positive impact on the state's economy.
