Honduras is generating good news in the area of sustainable renewable energy, positioning itself at the forefront of solar energy. Solar renewable energy in Honduras is growing at an exponential rate.
Between March and April, the National Electric Power Company (ENEE) will receive approximately 41,000 megawatt-hours per year of clean energy through the interconnection with Honduras’s first large-scale power generation complex, «Pavana Solar,» which represents an investment of $60 million. The facility, located in the southern region, is owned by Energía Básica, Sociedad Anónima (Enerbasa), a subsidiary of the Lufussa Group.
Luis Kafie, a member of the Lufussa Group’s board of directors, decided to invest through the company Enerbasa in renewable energy generation «to support President Juan Orlando Hernández’s initiative to diversify the country’s energy mix, and also to make the most of natural resources.».
It is worth noting that the plant will generate approximately 41,000 megawatt-hours per year, benefiting some 75,000 residents.
