Railway projects accounted for 2.6 percent of the total value of contracts put out to bid by all public administrations, which reduced the total volume of their bidding by 39.7 percent in January compared with the same month of the previous year, reaching 653.99 million euros.
Adif Alta Velocidad put out to bid projects totaling 12.59 million euros in the first month of 2015, which represents 1.9 percent of the total value of contracts put out to bid by all government agencies and a 19.6 percent decline compared to the same month in 2014.
Types of Construction Projects
By type of project, tenders for housing fell by 85.9 percent, while those for social infrastructure rose by 14 percent and those for other construction projects by 38 percent, resulting in an overall decline of 6.1 percent in the construction sector.
Bidding in the transportation sector fell by 57.5 percent, while in urban development it rose by 119.2 percent; in waterworks, it fell by 51.8 percent, and in environmental projects, it rose by 51.9 percent, resulting in an overall decline in civil engineering tenders of 45.7 percent
Government Agencies
In January 2015, public procurement by the central government fell by 62.8 percent, that by regional governments by 36.1 percent, and public procurement by local governments rose by 20.6 percent.
