Puebla Governor Rafael Moreno Valle announced an investment of more than one billion pesos in infrastructure in the state during 2015, as well as the construction of new parks and the restoration of existing ones, with the aim of providing more recreational areas for the people of Puebla.
Moreno Valle and Mayor Tony Gali inaugurated the asphalt paving of the streets surrounding the Ecological Park, a project that required an investment of 13,105,000 pesos and will benefit more than 1,539,800 people.
In addition, the governor noted that an ambitious program—a joint effort between the state and the municipality—will be launched to connect, via road networks, the strategic roads that have been paved with hydraulic concrete in order to strengthen connectivity within the metropolitan area.
He emphasized that, in light of the budget cuts announced by the federal government, state and municipal governments will have to evaluate and prioritize the projects to be carried out in order to do more with less, but without affecting social programs and public works.
Moreno Valle stated that the asphalt paving and resurfacing projects scheduled for this year will fulfill the commitments made by Mayor Tony Gali.
The Executive Branch indicated that in the coming weeks, the City Council and the State Government will formally announce the list of road construction projects, and therefore asked citizens for their patience and cooperation.
Mayor Tony Gali noted that in 2014, more than 119 million pesos were invested in the rehabilitation of primary and secondary avenues, a figure that will double this year to more than 400 million.
For his part, Cabalán Macari, the state’s Secretary of Infrastructure, explained that the asphalt paving project on the outskirts of the Ecological Park covered 2.8 kilometers of 30 North-South, 35 East, and Juan de Palafox y Mendoza streets.
He emphasized that the capital city had inherited a road problem, as the asphalt was in a state of severe disrepair; therefore, it was decided to invest more in better materials and carry out resurfacing projects that would provide a definitive solution.
