The complex, which is located in a 35-hectare area, features the the world's largest retractable dome, with a diameter of 312 meters, allowing the stadium to be covered or left uncovered depending on weather conditions.
The Singapore Sports Center, whose construction began in 2011, opened in 2014 and was designed based on various sustainability criteria, with solar panels that generate the energy needed to power the cooling systems and features numerous landscaped areas.
It is also connected to various pedestrian paths and bike lanes. The complex was designed by the architectural firm DP Architects, in collaboration with Arup.
