On the first underwater bullet train to be built in India, trains will travel 21 kilometers through the depths of the ocean. The line, which is more than 500 kilometers long, will connect the cities of Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just two hours, saving up to six hours of travel time and traveling at speeds of about 320 kilometers per hour.
The total length of this high-speed line will be about 505 kilometers, approximately, 21 of which will be submarines. Visitors will be able to enjoy marine life, including fish and other animals, as well as aquatic plants.
Thanks to the construction of this line, travel time between the cities of Mumbai (capital of the federal state of Maharashtra) and Ahmedabad (state of Gujarat) will be reduced from seven or eight hours to just two, making it easier for people living in these two cities to travel.
The high-speed trains that will run on this line will travel at a a speed of about 320 kilometers per hour, and can reach top speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
This ambitious project has already been approved, and construction is expected to begin very soon, in 2018. It is estimated that construction could be completed and the project could become operational in 2023.
