The Guadarrama Tunnel is located in the Sierra de Guadarrama and is the longest railway tunnel in Spain. This infrastructure, which is part of the Spanish High-Speed Rail Network, consists of two parallel tubes.
The Guadarrama Tunnel is part of the Madrid–Segovia–Valladolid high-speed rail line. This infrastructure is 28 kilometers long, making it the longest railway tunnel in Spain and one of the longest in Europe.

The tunnel has an excavation diameter of nearly 10 meters, with a distance of approximately 30 meters between the two centers of each tube. The two tunnels are connected by emergency tunnels every 250 m, and there is also a 500-meter special tunnel in the center of the infrastructure, which features a capacity for 1,200 people.
The Guadarrama railway tunnel was inaugurated in December 2007. Its construction marks an important step toward connecting the Spanish capital with the northern part of the country.
At the start of construction, several problems arose that have since been resolved, such as water leaks and dust clouds caused by passing trains.
